Chicken Burgers are a delicious and popular fast food. They are characterized by tender chicken pieces on the inside, coated with a crispy and flavorful exterior, and served with lettuce and sauce inside a burger bun. They are a great option for an easy homemade lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

– Chicken Marinade Ingredients:

  • Chicken breasts: 20 ounces
  • Plain yogurt: 1 cup
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper: 0.5 tablespoon
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder: 0.5 teaspoon (or hot sauce, optional)

– Chicken Coating Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour: 0.75 cup
  • Cornstarch: 0.33 cup
  • Salt: 1.5 teaspoons
  • Dried thyme: 0.5 teaspoon
  • Dried basil: 0.5 teaspoon
  • Oregano: 0.5 teaspoon
  • Sage: A pinch (ground)
  • Celery salt powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper: 1.5 teaspoons
  • White pepper: 0.5 teaspoon
  • Mustard: 1 teaspoon (powder)
  • Sweet paprika powder: 1.5 teaspoons
  • Garlic powder: 1.5 teaspoons
  • Ginger: 0.5 teaspoon (ground)
  • Chili powder: 0.5 teaspoon (optional)
  • Onion powder: 1.5 teaspoons
– Vegetable oil: As needed (for frying)
– Burger buns: 4 pieces
– Lettuce: As desired (finely chopped)
– Mayonnaise: As desired (or barbecue sauce)

Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken breasts into even pieces. Cover them with parchment paper and pound them until they are of uniform thickness.
  2. Combine the plain yogurt with salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Add the chicken and stir well to coat it evenly with the marinade.
  3. Cover the chicken and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, for tender and flavorful chicken.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, and all the coating spices until well combined.
  5. Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, coat each piece thoroughly with the flour mixture.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet until hot. Fry the chicken pieces for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.
  7. Place the fried chicken pieces on a wire rack or paper towels to drain any excess oil and maintain their crispiness.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce on the bun, then adding a crispy chicken piece and your desired mayonnaise or sauce.
  9. Close the burger bun and serve hot with fries or any side dish of your choice.
